Our Journey

From Hope to Silence
to Revival

2005

A Dream Takes Root

Hopeful English School began with just four children and a powerful dream — to equip young people with English and computer skills that could transform their future. Within one week, the number of students grew to 15, and within two months, more than 50 children were attending.

Over the Years

Seeds of Change

The school quickly became an important part of the community, helping young people gain valuable skills. Over the years, many students continued their education, and some are now working in companies or studying at universities.

2010s

Silence Falls

Sadly, after financial support for teachers' salaries came to an end, the school struggled to survive and was eventually forced to stop operating. For more than 10 years, the classrooms remained silent.

2026 — Today

Doors Open Again

With support from friends in Switzerland, the school has been beautifully restored and is now fully operating. Children are once again learning English, computer skills, and rediscovering hope every single day.

Organised by Malaki

Son of the school's original founder, current director of our local NGO, and an experienced local tour operator — your safe, knowledgeable guide to authentic Tanzania.

Good to Know

Accommodation

We're a small NGO and cannot cover accommodation, but Tanzania is very affordable. Options include a homestay with a local family (~USD XX/day, includes 3 local meals and directly supports the family) or guesthouses and lodges across different price points.

Arrival & Pickup

Fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) near Arusha. Our team will warmly welcome you and pick you up on arrival.

A Real Community

We aim to have 3–4 volunteers on-site at the same time whenever possible. Many friendships and unforgettable moments are born here — and you are never on your own.

Vaccinations & Malaria
